How we estimate

We count about 400 cubic feet per furnished room and about 65 cubic feet per pallet stacked to 4ft, add your spare-room buffer, and compare with usable volumes: 10ft ≈ 500, 20ft ≈ 1,050, 40ft ≈ 2,150 and 40ft high-cube ≈ 2,450 cubic feet (a bit under the full inside volume, because loads never fill every inch). Pallets also need floor space: 5 in a 10ft, 10 in a 20ft and 20 in a 40ft. These are estimates — see our size guide for exact dimensions.
